James Chapter 3

According to Jim - Week 3 - Message from Crosspoint Community Church on Vimeo . Yesterday was another awesome day at Crosspoint! What an awesome bunch of people to hang around with and we get to praise and worship and hear God's word all at the same time. I went to the first service and sat in the audience. I took some notes and will share my thoughts on them below. In the second service I sat in the back with the hubbs and the awesome volunteers who work all the technical stuff. I even got to wear headphones and chat with those watching online! Fun! But I did notice something. The crowd was totally engaged. They were laughing from time to time, because, well our pastor is a riot. They were pondering and thinking at the moments when deep thought was appropriate. They responded to questions. They were totally engaged. I have been in church my whole life and I have never seen a crowd engaged like that. It was an awesome thing to watch. The message brought by our pastor

I've been meaning to blog this all week, but I was waiting on the hubbs to get my new header up and running. What do you think? Likey? Anyway, I wanted to post a few thoughts from the message our pastor shared with us on Sunday. I tell you, we go to an amazing church. And it has nothing to do with a building (because we don't own one) or the immense theology training of the staff (although they are so in tune with God and speaking His truth boldly) or even the programming (which does rock - especially for our kids). It has everything to do with two things: 1. Jesus - First and foremost . It's like the cheering at a ballgame sometimes, only people are shouting "Jesus"! Everything that is said or done points directly to Jesus - our Redeemer and Savior. 2. The people. The church is not a building. It is a living, breathing, organic body of people on this Earth who love Jesus and go about their everyday lives loving others and helping others and loving Jesus

A long night...

So last night we changed Big Red's infusion set at dinner time. You are supposed to check blood sugar 2 hours after a set change to make sure that the insulin is going in and the infusion set didn't hit the muscle or kink up on insertion. Since I worked Sunday and Monday night and came home to home school during the days (read: I only got about 4-5 hours of sleep those two days), I went to bed. The hubbs was taking care of things. So hubbs comes to bed and says that when he put Big Red to bed two hours before his blood sugar was 409. I knew something was wrong. So we got him up and checked ketones - trace. By this point his blood sugar was up to 500. So we changed the infusion set and when we pulled the old one saw that it was kinked. He hadn't been getting any insulin! No wonder his blood sugar was through the roof. We put the new one in and spent the rest of the night getting up to check his blood sugar. It steadily went down and was 146 when he woke up this mor

And We're Pumping...

I have meant to write this post way before now, but life has taken over the past few weeks! Anyway, the boy has his insulin pump and is officially pumping insulin. He is excited. No more shots! Just a little stick every three days as we put a new infusion set in. Mom and Dad have been checking his blood sugars every two hours, especially in the night. We are tired! But he is adjusting well and his blood sugars are getting more normal now. So, I snapped some pics of all the pump stuff when it arrived and of all the supplies. So, here's a peek into our daily life with diabetes.
