My obligatory post about Sara Palin

Since everyone else is doing it, I guess I must say something about Sarah Palin. Let me preface this by saying a couple of things:

1. I am officially registered as a Republican, but I think I should probably change it to Independent. I vote for the person and what they can bring to the position - not just the party. OK - I'm sure I'll get a nasty letter about that one.

2. I haven't really kept up with all the little details of Sara Palin, and I couldn't tell you the first thing as of yet about what she's done as governor or if I think she can bring anything or not to the ticket. (I do intend to do my research before I cast my vote, though).

Here's what I DO know:

1.
She is a woman who happens to be attractive. I think I am going to puke if I hear her referred to as "hot" or "sexy" one more time. She is someones wife therefore no one else in the world except her husband should be referring to her as that. SHAME ON YOU media/politicians who think that this is going to make her a better or worse candidate.

2. She is a woman.
Women can do anything men can do and even more...like have babies. I am not a woman's libber, but I mean, come on. We live in the USA where women can do anything they want. It's time we got over the woman thing and give her credit as a person who just happens to be a woman.

3.Before we judge her let's put ourselves in her shoes - she's a wife, a mom to 5, she just sent her oldest child off to fight in a war, she has a new baby, that baby happens to have Down's Syndrome, her teenager daughter is pregnant, she's a governor, and now she is running for Vice-President. I'd say she's got a lot of stress going on. I'd like to see some of the people who are slamming her walk in her shoes for just 5 minutes and then see what they'd say.

The thing is, we need to cover all of our candidates and people in government leadership in prayer - whether we like them or not. They have a huge responsibility on their shoulders and the enemy loves to use the political arena to turn us away from where our true focus should be - Christ.

Have any of you ever been in a season of sifting by the enemy and actually knew it? I say that, because we probably all have at one time or another, but it's even more heavy and real when we actually know that it's occurring. On a daily basis, the enemy is tormenting our political leaders in many different ways. We must pray for them to give their lives to Christ, to stand strong in their faith if they already have, to pray about the decisions they make, to have the country's best interest in heart, to seek God for their guidance.

I think the most important decision we can make is not who we will vote for in November, but it's the decision that no matter who gets elected, we will lift that person up daily to the Lord.

I leave you with a quote that my friend, Tammy, sent to me via email. My friend Tammy so embodies this quote and it's my desire to be like that.

"Live your life in such a way that when your feet hit the floor in the morning, Satan shudders and says 'Oh No...She's awake'!!!"

What a great thought...to put ourselves in others' shoes BEFORE we try to analyze them! Great post Paige! Oh...I love that quote, too!

Paige, we DO have a responsiblity to pray for our leaders, regardless of who they are or if we like them or not.

And I love your friend Tammy's quote. That is awesome!
